Here by Glimpses Known

I've decided that my "Here by Glimpses Known" will continue to feature Mayotte only as long as I live here, the point being to aquaint people with this island, its people, landscapes, flora, and fauna. Our Madagascar photos will be in other entires.

And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ~~Anais Nin, American Author

This is the white hibiscus, one of the five or six varities that one sees with great frequency here in Mayotte. They alwas remind me of old black and white movies, of musicals with cool ladies in flowing, swirling dresses, a surrealist image here in the heat and color of the tropics.
