And the gunshots were...

to celebrate a wedding. o.O

Talk about a cultural divide. Gunfire is just not something I'd want at my wedding.

Anyhow, the sounds had me nervous because an aquaintance is freaking out about life here (I think it is mostly because she doesn't like it), and she shared a "news" story* about how the Muslim Brotherhood is giving foreigners until Feb 11 to get out of the country before they start acting with violence towards us.

*ironic grin* Welcome to the Middle East. Where things that explode are used to celebrate anything.

*sigh*

We hear a lot of fireworks here from the neighboring villages and sometimes there's gunfire too, and it always makes me nervous, but it's never been anything to worry about.

Yeah, things that go boom are just more fun, I guess. :P

I still remember when we first moved here 2 years ago: We heard fireworks twice a week, never more than three, and now it is every night and often during the day. :-

heh... guess that while the south of the US love their guns, they don't love them *that* much.

Maybe what they don't love is wasting ammo. Maybe they need to keep all that ammunition for when they are ready to secede ... :P
