One of them will be the death of me

Can you guess which one?

I made a Thai-influenced soup for lunch:

Junebug took his spoon, dug in, and proclaimed, "Tasty!"*

Sprout looks in her bowl and without tasting it, wails, "I like shrimp, I like calamari, I like chicken; what a bad surprise this is, having them all together! And rice! I didn't want my rice mixed in!"

o.O

_________

* Yes, I made the soup, so I might be biased, but it was very tasty.

What is it about kids and hating having their food touch other food? It seems to be nearly universal. Like it's part of our genetic makeup.

I know! Except I was never this way. I just thought it happened to "other people" and now I have a kid with this genetic "flaw." :P

Sounds like good soup to me! I wish I had something to counteract the cold, rainy, windy weather we've had for over a week.

Oooo! I would definitely send you soup if you could send me some of your weather!

Ha! I don't know how many times that's happened to us. Plus, the opposite, where someone doesn't like, say, cheese, tomato or ham, but somehow devours everything when it's part of pizza...

I guess it is true that misery loves company because it makes me feel better to hear about other people having the same struggles. :P

I was taken aback to discover my husband still feels this way. I bought a divided container for lunches that involve multiple foods for him. He was pleased. . .

oh, I suppose hearing he didn't grow out of it isn't comforting, is it? Sorry!

You are right: That is not comforting. :P

OTOH, he has learned to eat soup and stew without separating ingredients. I'll hope for the best for your Sprout.

And your sanity. ;)
